Magic in Las Vegas for May 2012
Las Vegas, Nevada has more magic than any other place in the world. There are full-fledged, all-magic, all-the-time shows, and magic interspersed into other, variety-type shows, and everything in-between. Dante’s top assistant, Moi-yo Miller, turns 98 April 24
Happy 98th birthday April 24 to Moi-Yo Miller, Dante's top assistant for over two decades. Born in 1914, she was a professional dancer in Australia when Dante the Magician came there as part of his world tour. After an interesting search there for a new beautiful assistant, he hired her and she became his top assistant for the rest of his career. Below we include excerpts from several sources, telling some of her fascinating story.
Moi-Yo Miller was the stage name of Mona Loretta Miller, an Australian who became the principal assistant to the stage magician Dante (Harry Jansen, 1883-1955). ... She met Dante while she was in her late teens, performing in a musical revue in Melbourne. Dante became fascinated with Australian women, stating that "he saw in Melbourne more beautiful women per square block than he had seen in any other part of the world."

March 2012 Broken Wand is published in mid-February

It is mid-February and I just sent to production the Broken Wand for the March issue of The Linking Ring. We publish it here at this time in order to give a heads up to friends and acquaintenaces of the ten magicians who we learned over the last thirty days, had died. We appreciate the help from all the people who notified the I.B.M. Office of the deaths, as well as sent to us obituaries, photos, and information to include in our obituaries. We are honored to be the primary repository of magician obituaries. Thank you for helping us pay tribute to them for all the joy they brought to other people.

"Le Grand David" 35th Anniversary Show to Benefit Charities.
On Saturday, February 18, 2012, in Beverly, Massachusetts, resident wonder-workers will give their 35th anniversary performance at the Cabot St. Cinema Theatre (286 Cabot Street). Curtain time for "Le Grand David and his own Spectacular Magic Company" will be at 8:00 p.m. that evening. Beverly Cooperative Bank is sponsoring the anniversary show, and all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the YMCA, Beverly Bootstraps, the North Shore United Way, and Beverly Hospital.

Sea the Magic Hospital Shows July 3 in Virginia

Once again the I.B.M. 2012 Convention (whose slogan is "Sea the Magic • Norfolk") planning committee is hard at work pulling together the annual “Operation Tricks Are Treats” hospital shows. It has been the I.B.M. practice for many years to have some of the magicians who are attending the annual convention to donate their time and talents to perform for local hospitals in the convention city and area. Norfolk 2012 will be no exception. However, 2012 will have a slightly different twist to it.
